Aan deze stam wordt nog gewerkt.
In de 5e generatie vertrekt Jan z/v Jacob Klaasz Obdam (Mars) en Aaltje Jacobse Snijder met de VOC naar India. Ook Cornelis Obdam gaat naar Bengalen en Jacob Obdam naar Batavia.
De Rijp was in de 17e, 18e en 19e eeuw zeer welvarend, dankzij de walvisvaart. Door het inpolderen van de Schermer, de Starnmeer en de Beemster raakte de Rijp zijn directe verbinding met de Zuiderzee kwijt, waardoor aan de walvisvaart een einde kwam.
