Notes about Louis Constant Westenenk

1905 - Becomes "Controleur" of Agam, based in Fort de Kock (now called Bukit Tinggi).

In March 1914 acepts a newly-created function of "Inspector General" in Turkish Armenia, arrives in Istanbul at the beginning of May 1914, but the outbreak of World War I and rabid Turkish nationalism soon made his job difficult if not impossible and in January 1915 he is told that the Turkish Government no longer sees any benefit in his involvement. Westenenk returns to the Dutch East Indies soon after.

2 August 1915 - Arrival in Benkoelen as the new Resident.

Becomes Gouvernor of Sumatra East Coast in November 1920, based in Deli.

Returned to Holland in 1926.
Admitted to hospital for a prostate operation at the end of April 1930, but dies within days of a pulmonary embolism.

His second wife, Digna, was a cousin of his first wife, Adri.
