Notes about Lucas van HEEREN

Lucas van Heeren werd 7 februari 1872 in Dubbeldam geboren, woonde aan de Rijksstraatweg 22. De Witte Luuk werkte vanaf 1903 gedurende ongeveer 10 jaar als machinist op een baggermolen aan het Suezkanaal bij Ismaelia in Egypte. In 1910 kwamen zijn vrouw en beide dochters Neeltje en Nel ook naar Egypte. Op 16 april 1912 werd zoon Gerrit in Ismaëlia / Egypte geboren.
In 1913 gingen ze met z'n vijven terug naar Dubbeldam in Nederland en bleven daar voorgoed wonen. Lucas had in Egypte malaria gekregen en zou daar later in Nederland nog veel ongemak van ondervinden. Toen het gezin van Heeren in Dubbeldam terugkeerde, werden ze 'in een koets getrokken door witte paarden' door het dorp gereden.
