Notes about Jan CROONENBURG

Jan Melsen CROONENBURG stamt uit een houtkopersfamilie te Dordrecht, die oorspronkelijk uit Keulen afkomstig is en waarschijnlijk de naam ontleent aan het huis Cronenborch aan de Nieuwe Brug te Dordrecht. Jan is voor 1636 in Heerjansdam geboren. Woont in 1687 te Heerjansdam en is schipper vandaar "op Dordrecht". Hij is patroon van de "Prebende Gregorii" na het overlijden van Hendrik Jacobuszn SEVENHUYSEN in 1687, die gehuwd was met Jan's nicht Lijntje Pietersdr CROONENBURG. Deze St. Gregoriusprebende in de Pancraskerk te Leiden werd gesticht in 1367 door de heer Claes Jacobs Van BLEYSWIJCK en het patronaatschap kwam via de priester Steven JANSZ in het midden de 16e eeuw in de familie CROONENBURG. Het patronaatschap werd later overgenomen door Jan's zoon Leendert. Hij was schepen van Heerjansdam. Hij trouwde met Heiltje LEENDERTSE, rond 1650.
