Notes about Otto I van Wittelsbach

Otto I, paltsgraaf van Wittelsbach, hertog van Beieren van 1180 tot 1183, was een vriend van keizer Frederik I Barbarossa en een vurig voorstander van diens politiek. Hij geraakte in moeilijkheden met de Lombardischesteden, vooral met de Milanezen, die hem en kanselier Reinald van Dasselmet stenen bekogelden (jan. 1159). Na de nederlaag van Hendrik XII de Leeuw kreeg hij een aanzienlijk deel van diens bezittingen. Met hem begonde regering van het Huis Wittelsbach in Beieren.
