Belijdenis 's-Gravendeel 24 Mrt 1717. Hij was chirurgijn, schepen van 's-Gravendeel 1725-1727, diaken, ouderling enkerkmeester 1719-1761, armmeester, ontvanger van het personeel belastinggeld 1750. Zoals uit de impostbedragen blijkt,ging het Cornelis materieel zeer goed. Hij had een uitgebreid bezit aan onroerend goed en trad ook op als financier.Toen hij in 1727 weer op de nominatie stond voor diaken, verzocht hij de kerkeraad dit keer verschoond te mogen blijvenvan verkiezing om verscheijdene, zoo hem dacht, gewichtige en genoegzame redenen. Hij werd echter toch verkozen. Alsarmmeester organiseerde hij, met ingang van 1729, de jaarlijkse huis-aan-huis collecte tot onderstand van noodlijdendearme huisgezinnen, weduwen en wezen (zie verder Jubileumboek 's-Gravendeel p. 190).
