Bezittingen van Pouwel Geerts volgens het minuutplan en de Oorspronkelijk Aanwijzende Tafel van het Kadaster(1811-1833):
Appingedam (sectie D, blad 01) perceel 296 groot 00.00.81 ha huis- en erf.
Het huis en erf staat op naam van de weduwe Pouwel Geerts Geertsema en is gelegen in het centrum van Appingedam aan hetwater (gracht) De Fivel een zijtak van het Kartendiep.
Waarschijnlijk zijn in dit huis al z'n kinderen geboren.

Beroep snikkevaarder: schipper op een Snik, mogelijk ook op een willekeurige trekschuit.
Snik: Trekschuit voor vracht- en personenvervoer.
In gebruik van de 17e tot het begin van de 20e eeuw in de vier noordelijkste provincies van het land. Het kerngebied wasechter Groningen en Drenthe waar ze op veel werven werden gebouwd. De snik kenmerkte zich door een puntig toelopenderechte steven zoals bij een punter. Ze waren voorzien van een lage opbouw en waren over het algemeen gemiddeld 11 meterlang en 2,25 meter breed. Vrachtsnikken hadden alleen achterop een kleine verblijfsruimte, het grootste deel wasgereserveerd als laadruim.
