Notes about Cornelis Huisman

Cornelis was first married at the age of 23 to Dieuwertje Moeijes, the daughter of Arien Moeijes and Geertje Dekker, on May 18, 1881 In Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands. They had two children: the first not named was stillborn on June 3, 1881 and Roelof Meerten born July 2, 1882 who died July 17, 1882. Dieuwertje passed away on December 7, 1883.

At the age of 28 he was married to Dieuwertje's sister, Geziena Moeijes on October 27, 1886. They had two children: Roelof Meerten Huisman born March 26, 1887 who died on September 13, 1887. A daughter Geertje Huisman was born April 15, 1888. His wife Geziena died April 26, 1888.

At the age 32 he was married to another sister, Maria Moeijes, on May 8, 1889 in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands.

He and his family consisting of his wife and nine children came to the United States in 1910. They farmed near Otley, Iowa before moving to Pella. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and ten children.
