IN MEMORIAM: Rieuwert Schekkerman
Onlangs overleed op 91-jarige leeftijd Rieuwert Schekkerman, voor degenen die al langer lid zijn van de KNNV afdeling Alkmaar bepaald geen onbekende naam. Ik denk dat er nog velen zijn die met genoegen terugdenken aan de prachtige diavoorstellingen die hij regelmatig verzorgde. Aanvankelijk van zijn reizen naar de berggebieden in Europa, later – na het overlijden van zijn vrouw – van onderwerpen dichter bij huis. De dia’s waren prachtig, en bij ieder onderwerp wist hij met veel kennis van zaken en een goed oog voor detail een boeiende toelichting te geven. Humoristisch was hij ook. Zo herinnert Simon Kuitwaard zich dat hij de vruchten van de kardinaalsmuts “Willem Dreesjes” noemde: rood van buiten en oranje van binnen. Paddenstoelen hadden met name zijn interesse. Als hij niet zeker was van de naam dan kon hij altijd bij Friedjof van den Bergh terecht. Tot op hoge leeftijd bleef hij actief en kon je hem tegenkomen bij een excursie. En dan ging steeds weer die rugzak af, want overal kon hij een interessante plant of paddenstoel ontdekken die erop wachtte om door hem op de foto te worden gezet. En die vertoonde hij dan weer aan ons, geïnteresseerd publiek. Zoals die keer dat hij ons wilde verrassen met fraaie primula’s... Heel toevallig hetzelfde onderwerp als dat van de andere onvergetelijke lezingenverzorger van die avond, Kees Gobets. We zullen het er nooit over eens worden wiens dia’s de mooiste waren! De laatste jaren van zijn leven zagen we Rieuwert niet meer, maar we denken met warme gevoelens aan hem terug. Evert Maarschall.
