    Notes about Jantje Meurs

    Jantje Meurs was 16 jaar, toen zij in het gezin van haar zus Trijntje, die getrouwd was met Klaas Zwaan, moest gaan helpen. Trijntje en Klaas hadden op dat moment 3 zonen. Jantje raakte ongewenst zwanger na misbruikt te zijn door haar zwager en was 17 jaar toen haar zoon Jan werd geboren in oktober 1906. Trijntje beviel in december 1906 van haar vierde kind.
    Cees Zwaan (geen directe familie van Klaas) wilde in 1906 al met Jantje trouwen, maar pas in 1935 durfde zij het aan, omdat ze bang was om weer zwanger te worden. Pas kort voor haar overlijden heeft ze dit verteld. Naast dit familieverdriet heeft Jantje ook het verlies moeten dragen van de dood van haar zoon Jan in 1960 en die van haar man in 1966. Maar het verdriet om de dood van haar kleinzoon Klaas Meurs, die is omgekomen bij de vliegramp op Tenerife op 27 maart 1977 (hij was co-pilot van vlucht KL4805) heeft zij niet kunnen verwerken. Vijf maanden later op 23 augustus is Jantje, die "Zwarte Jantje" werd genoemd, overleden.
