Notes about Marinus Leeninga

Volgens de familieoverlevering was moeder Dirkje zwanger van Koning Willem III, die nogal een reputatie had op dit gebied. Haar huwelijk met Pieter zou door het hof georganiseerd zijn. Zoon Marinus werd 5 weken na het huwelijk geboren op 8 december 1848 in Eck en Wiel. Van dit hele verhaal is officieel niets terug te vinden. Ambtenaren zouden zijn omgekocht. Willem III had meer dan 80 "onechte" nakomelingen, de kinderen uit connecties met de adel en gegoede burgerij kregen goede maatschappelijke posities.
Marinus trouwde in 1877 met Ijtje Ros en zij kregen samen 10 kinderen. Het gezin Leeninga-Ros ontving jaarlijks een mud aardappels uit den Haag, ter ondersteuning van het gezin. Dit verhaal is een herinnering van een van de dochters van Marinus.
