Notes about Jan Gijsbertz Monster

Heeft een broer Claes. Deze beide broers zijn de oudst bekende
voorvaderen van de familie Monster. Het wapen van de familie werd pas in
1989 vastgelegd, daar geen oud wapen gevonden werd. Het vertoont 3
vlasbloemen op een hoekig doorsneden veld in de vorm van 2 M's, naar de
2 gebroeders Monster. De tak van Claes is later uitgestorven. Jan
vestigde zich, waarschijnlijk niet lang na de geboorte van zijn zoon
Hendrik, en vermoedelijk als boer in St. Anthoniepolder. (Bron:
genealogie Monster). Zijn verre nakomelingen stichtten ongeveer 200 jaar
later de stad Munster in Indiana (USA). Deze stad ligt bij Chicago en
werd gesticht door Jacob Monster (Genealogie Monster bldz. 33 en deel 2,
bldz 46)
