Verhuisde van Waddinxveen naar Gouda, en woonde daar 1876 wijk C 197b, 1879 E 7a, 1883 Goejanverwelsedijk 5a, vertrok daarna naar Den Haag, 19/6 1886 van Den Haag naar Voorburg en 12/4 1889 naar Stompwijk, Woonde daar samen met Bartha de Korte, ^ Leidsekade 23, Veenestraat en Damstraat 33. Vader was Hendrik van Esschoten, zijn moeder Wilhelmina Blok. Het is onwaarschijnlijk, dat hij de natuurlijke vader van de laatste 2 kinderen is. Waarschijnlijk is dat Dirk van der Kist, barbier te Gouda,die bij beide geboorten als getuige fungeerde. Ook de naamstelling van de kinderen wijst naar die mogelijkheid.
