Wapen: In zilver een groene (gerichts)boom op een groen heuveltje,
waartegen klimmend een rood (gerichts)hert. Helmteken: het hert van het
schild uitkomend. Dekkleden: zilver en rood.
Na hem werd het wapen verder gevoerd door Hindriks Waalkens, gedoopt
3-9-1780, gepromoveerd ingenieur en fortenbouwer; door Teunis Waalkens,
gedoopt Oudeschans 18-11-1731, ingeschreven te Groningen als student in
de wijsbegeerte; door Waalko H. Waalkens, gedoopt 1-5-1775 te
Bellingwolde, burgemeester van Nieuweschans, overleden 26-11-1827; door
Egbertus Henderikus Waalkens, landeigenaar en lid van de Gemeenteraad
van Blijham, geboren aldaaar 30-3-1846 en door de tegenwoordige en
vorige burgemeesters van Wedde. (uit: Nederlandsche Familiewapens, door
Dr. H. Kits Nieuwenkamp, NV Uitgeversbedrijf "Eigen Volk" Haarlem)
