Notes about Louis Joseph "Lodewijk" Lefèbre

Lefèbre.

Te 's Gravenhage is op 67 jarigen ouderdom overleden de heer L. J. Lefèbre, eertijds chef van een bekenden Haagschen muziekhandel, later directeur van het museum “Prins Hendrik" waarvan het kabinet van physisch muzikale instrumenten een tijdlang de aandacht trok, doch later bij gebrek aan steun werd opgeheven.
Ofschoon niet wetenschappelijk gevormd, had Lefèbre groote voorliefde voor wetenschappelijke studiën op het gebied van de geluidsleer en als goed pianist er organist kwam hem de praktijk zeer te stade; vooral streefde hij er in latere jaren naar, door verbetering van signalen en misthoorns, nuttig werkzaam te zijn voor de zeevaart en ofschoon hij met vele teleurstellingen had te kampen, is hem dit toch, tot zekere hoogte gelukt, terwijl hij mede door zijne vindingen van nieuwe, fijnere gehoorwerktuigen, velen van dienst was.
Overigens heeft hij door zijne medewerking in vroegere jaren vele muzikale uitvoeringen
doen slagen en vond men hem steeds bereid om voor vaderlandslievende doeleinden zijne krachten beschikbaar te stellen.
