Wij allen hadden vorig jaar aangenomen, van Pinksteren tot St. Maarten 1 770 en met genoemde Slagveldt als stuurman, om met een visschuit, waarva n Cornelis Maartsz Draijer mede reder en boekhouder was, op Vissche te v aare.
Toen wij dan in het laatst van September aan land waren, vertelde Slagve ldt dat genoemde Draijer had geproponeert hem met zijn volk als Courie r naar Engeland te laten varen, voor 225,00 per maand.
Na samen hierover te hebben gesproken vonden wij dit eigenlijk veel te w einig, zeker al omdat Draijer geen victualie wilde geven. Daarna kwame n wij zelf met het voorstel om voor agt per hoofd per week, de jongens i ets minder maar totaal voor 44,00 per week en buitendien zoveel Victua lie als Leendert Willem, die ook was aangenomen om op Engeland te varen , zou meenemen.
Twee dagen later bevestigde Slagtvelt dat met Draijer een accoord was ge sloten en de schuijt moest in orde worden gemaakt.
Op 3 oktober 's morgens zijn wij om drie uur in zee gestoken en tien dag en later was deze reis volbracht. Hierna moesten wij ons gereed houden v oor een tweede reis. Slagvelt en Paap brachten intussen het restant va n het bier en brood terug en vroegen voor de tweede reis een behoorlijk e provisie (mondvoorraad). Draijer voelde zich hiertoe niet verplicht wa arna er een reede-wisseling ontstond.
Slagvelt zei: als je geen bier en brood wilt geven, dan ga ik liever vis schen en niet op Engeland vaaren. Draijer zei toen: als jullie niet naa r Engeland willen varen dan zal ik wel ander volk op 't schuijtje zetten . Waarop Slagvelt zei dat dit niet kon omdat zij op dat schuijtje tot St . Maarten waren aangenomen.

Na deze verklaring werd de eed van waarheid afgelegd.
