Ds.BarendGast was geboren op 25 Augustus 1916 in Tiel (Grootebrugsche Grintweg 21).1,2 Hij zegende het huwelijk van ArnoldGast en HettievanWijk in op 26 Maart 1942 in de NH in Geldermalsen.3 Hij trouwde met GeertjedeHaan, dochter van UlpendeHaan en AfinadeHaan, op 12 Juli 1943 in Purmerend.1 Hij overleed op 13 April 1964 in Utrecht (Militair Ziekenhuis "Oog in Al").1,4 Hij werd gecremeerd op 18 April 1964 in Dieren.4 Zijn as werd begraven op de begraafplaats Tot Navolging in Tiel in het graf van zijn ouders. Een rouwkaart vermeldt zijn vrouw en kinderen.4
Meer informatie: Ds. Barend Gast ging in Tiel naar het Openbaar Gymnasium. Daarna ging hij studeren aan de Theologische Faculteit van de Rijksuniversiteit in Utrecht. Hij deed zijn propadeutisch-examen op 9 October 1936 (toegelaten), zijn candidaats-examen op 18 October 1938 (toegelaten (zwak), en zijn kerkelijk examen op 30 September 1939 (aantekeningen: voldoende).5 In 1928 vroor de Waal dicht, mischien was de 12-jarige Barend ook wel bij de mensen in deze foto. Ds. Barend Gast was op 5 October 1941 bevestigd als NH predikant in Jisp. Daarvoor hij was hulppredikant in diverse gemeentes van 1937 t/m 1941. Op 1 Oct 1945 wordt hij eervol ontslagen met bevestiging van Emeritaat. Hij was tussen 1 Oct 1945 en 1 Sep 1949 Algemeen Secretaris van de Vrijzinnig Christelijke Jeugd Centrale (VCJC). Van 1949 t/m 1959 was hij dominee bij de Nederlands Hervormde Gemeente in Zwolle, waarna hij Predikant in speciale dienst bij het leger was tot zijn overlijden.5 Zijn handtekening. Hij diende in 1955-56 1 jr als legerpredikant in Vught, en tussen 4 October 1959 en 1964 als predikant voor buitengewone werkzaamheden (de Geestelijke Verzorging van de Krijgsmacht) op de Lua-school in Ede.5,4
