Sloot 24 aug. 1660 een pachtcontract met Arnold Huyn van Amstenrade betr. de verpachting van diens huis en hof Kerisborg voor de termijn van 6 jaar. De pachtsom bedroeg 450 guldens Maastrichter koers en 50 pond boter per jaar. Bij de ondertekening van het contract waren Hendrik Spierts en Gerard Frederichs niet enkel getuigen maar stelden zij zich ook borg voor hun zoon en zwager Reinier Spierts. Na afloop van deze pachtperiode klaagde de schoonzoon van de dan wijlen verpachter, Gerard van Didden-Malatesta, heer van Walhorn, de pachter Reinier Spierts voor de schepenbank van Heerlen. Deze schepenbank veroordeelde 31 januari 1667 Reinier tot betaling van de nog achterstallige pachtsom die volgens de schepenen 1496 guldens en 14 stuivers bedroeg. Hiertegen ging Reinier met succes in beroep en kreeg 22 augustus 496 guldens en 14 stuivers kwijtgescholden. Kennelijk heeft Reinier, wellicht overleden Heerlen 9 maart 1666, niet betaald want in 1669 werd nu Gerard Frederichs, tevens erfgenaam van Hendrik Spierts als andere borgsteller, door van Didden-Malatesta aangesproken. De zaak sleepte nog aan tot 31 juli 1671 toen de schepenbank nogmaals het vonnis van 22 augustus 1667 bevestigde en Gerard Frederichs tot betaling van de 1000 guldens veroordeelde .
