Gouden bruiloft. Dinsdag vierde het echtpaar J. Brans-v. d. Bergh, Röselaersstraat 12, zijn gouden huwelijksfeest. Na een H. Mis tot dankzegging in de kerk van St. Jan Evangelist had een druk bezochte receptie plaats waarop onder de eersten verschenen burgemeester en wethouders. Voorts kwamen de geestelijkheid, tal van raadsleden, alsook depotchefs van de Emma hun gelukwensen aanbieden. Er kwam ook 'n deputatie van de deputaat-kolenrijders in de Mijnstreek feliciteren en voorts . gaven tal van particulieren blijk van hun belangstelling.

HOENSBROEK, 16 Jan. (eig. red.) Toen de 23-jarige Maria Gertrudis Wilhelmina van de Bergh op vastenavondmaandag in het jaar 1900. onder een poort van een boerderij in Nieuwstadt koeien stond te voeren, werkte deze idylle zo heftig in op het ontvlambare hart van de toevallig passerende Johannes Hubertus Brans uit Bom, dat hieruit de plechtigheid voortkwam, welke op 29 Jan. a.s. voor de 50ste maal op het Röse- Jaersplein 12 te Hoensbroek herdacht zal worden. Beiden kregen op 10-jarige leeftijd reeds de volle last op hun jonge schouders gelegd. De dood van vader Brans was oorzaak dat Jan direct aan de slag moest om voor de vijf overblijvenden de kost te verdienen. Bij de familie van de Bergh was het de dood van de moeder, waardoor Guilmina het huishouden voor vijf kinderen moest gaan verzorgen, terwijl vader de boerderij bijhield. Dat de gouden bruid nog steeds een grote voorkeur voor politiek heeft komt niet alleen doordat vader 27 jaar secretaris van Nieuwstadt was, maar vooral omdat café van de Bergh in Grevenbicht het centrum was waar iedere dag over dit onderwerp gekeuveld werd. Ook nu nog leest zij iedere dag de krant van a tot z uit, waarbij de goudon bruidegom dan als toehoorder fungeert.
