Notes about Job Holkema

Jop moest al op jeugdige leeftijd als koopman de boer op, om mee te helpen de kost te verdienen, omdat zijn vader (door een verkeerd gelopen borgstelling?) in financiële moeilijkheden was geraakt. Jop en zijn vrouw hebben na hun huwelijk eerst korte tijd in het boerderijtje /winkeltje van zijn vader gewoond en daarna hun hele verdere leven in een huisje aan de O. kant van de Vaart (bij de "Holkema's Wijk"). Naast zijn handel in stoffen, kostuums e.d. hadden zij bij het huis een akkertje en moestuin en wat kleinvee en kippen, waarover Froukje zich voornamelijk ontfermde.
