Pieter en Dieuwertje gingen rond 1909 met een groepje pioniers naar Brazilie, om een boeren-kolonie te stichten. De Expeditie mislukte en ze kwamen in 1911 weer terug in Noord-Holland. Dieuwertje overleed kort hierna.
