hij bezat één morgen land in de Dertigjarige Separatie onder Oudshoorn en veende zonder hulp van arbeiders

zijn bescheiden boedel geeft precies aan wat een kleine veenman nodig had

twee trekbeugels en een bagerbeugel
twwe baggerpramen en een schuit

simon had 300 gulden contant in huis toen hij overleed

maar zijn bedrijf was belast met ongeveer 1000 gulden het grootste deel daarvan 900 gulden was geleend binnen de familie
