Hij zit in 1859 eerst in het Huis van Arrest te Goes. Na het vonnis van 1 jaar gevangenisstraf voor eenvoudige diefstal wordt hij overgebracht naar:De strafgevangenis van Goes. Daar zit hij van oktober 1859 tot december 1859. Dan gaat hij naar de strafgevangenis te Middelburg, waar hij tot het eind van zijn straf(oktober 1860) blijft.
Op 22 april 1861 wordt hij te Goes veroordeeld tot een correctionele straf van 14 dagen wegens bedelarij. Die straf zit hij uit van 18/6 -2/7 1861.
