[[Anna Gunnink was born November 4, 1926 to Jake and Jacoba (Van Surksum) Kort in Lismore, Minnesota, Nobles County. She was baptized on July 24, 1927 at the Leota Reformed Church in Leota, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Lismore and for a short time near the communities of Leota and Edgerton, Minnesota. Anna attended country school and later the Edgerton Christian School.
On August 28, 1945 Anna married John W. Gunnink on her parents’ farm. They made their home on a farm near Chandler, Minnesota for thirty-six years until 1981 when they moved into Chandler. On November 30, 1999 Anna became a resident of Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton.
Anna was a past member of the Leota Reformed Church and a current member of the Chandler Reformed Church in Chandler. She was active in the church women’s groups and various other church actives. Anna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilting, having made a quilt for each of her children and then losing them all in the tornado. She also enjoyed reading and working on word puzzles, but it was having her grandchildren visit and being involved in their activities that she truly loved.
On Saturday, December 6, 2003 Anna died at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton at the age of 77. She will be remembered as a wonderful, caring and loving mother and grandmother.
Annis is survived by her one daughter, Karen (Dan) Ramaker of Steen, MN; three sons, Calvin (Alison) Gunnink of Ortonville, MN, Ron (Joyce) Gunn of Minneapolis, MN and Terry Gunnink of New Castle, WY; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Gunninnk of Kentwood, MI and Caroline Veldkap of Dell Rapids, SD; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, husband, John one sister, Jeanette Kort and one infant brother, Marion preceded her in death.]]
