Aantekeningen
Doop- of geboortegegevens van Thomas Cornelisz Verloop zijn vooralsnog niet gevonden in Streefkerk of Groot-Ammers. In zijn overlijdens akte van 5 juli 1820 was hij 81 jaar oud en genoemd als zoon van Cornelis Verloop en Niesje Braneker, dus ouders hierbij bevestigd.

Bij zijn eerste huwelijk in 1764 met Aaltje Verruijt was hij woonachtig te Rijnsburg (en trouwakte vermeld Groot-Ammers als geboorteplaats).

De reden van het vertrek van Thomas uit Groot-Ammers naar Katwijk zal wel nooit achterhaalbaar zijn. Zijn oudere broer Klaas vertrok naar Alblasserdam. Beide broers waren timmermannen met een gedegen reputatie en solide achtergrond. Er was misschien te weinig werk in die contreien van de Alblasserwaard voor beide broers (misschien waren er ook weer regelmatig dijkdoorbraken en overstromingen), zodat de jongste van de twee verder weg in Rijnsburg/Katwijk zijn heil zocht.

Hij was timmerman en werd in 1765 als lidmaat te Katwijk aan Zee toegelaten, komende uit Liesbeth (baronie Liesbeth: Groot-Ammers, Peursum, en Ottoland). Hij bouwde een huis aan de Elleboogsteeg (nr. 6) in Katwijk aan Zee, dat in 1988 is afgebroken. Thomas was regent van het Gasthuis van 1782 tot 1786. Hij overleed in 1820 op 81-jarige leeftijd (in huis nr. drie honderd tien) en schonk verschillende onroerende goederen aan zijn zoon Johannes, blijkens een schenkingsbrief opgemaakt voor Schout en Schepenen van de "Heerlijkheid Katwijk".
Hij is de stamvader van de Verloop-takken “Friesland”, “Katwijk” en “Noordwijk”, respectievelijk via zijn zonen Dirk, Johannes en Simon.
