    Woonde in Venlo, Vleesstraat 21. Zoon van Hermanus Hendrikus Groeneveld en Johanna Maria Wolkenfeldt. Ongehuwd. Scholier. Bij een poging de Maas over te zwemmen naar bevrijd gebied is hij vermoedelijk doodgeschoten. Willy, zoals zijn roepnaam luidde, was van plan dienst te nemen in geallieerde dienst. Maanden later is zijn lichaam geborgen in de Maas tussen Hasselt en Lomm in de gemeente Arcen en Velden. Een wachtmeester van de marechaussee deed aangifte van zijn overlijden bij de gemeente Arcen en Velden. Zijn stoffelijk overschot is begraven op het rooms-katholieke kerkhof in Venlo.
