Notes about NN Zijm

De Witte Engel

Drietal boerderijen aan de Hoornderweg 7, 11 en 12. Genoemd als veldnaam op die plek aan de Herenweg (is nu de Hoornderweg) in 1832. De boerderijen stonden in Noord-Haffel, een polder en uitgestrekt buurtschap dat al in 1637 10 woningen telde.
De Witte Engel aan de Hoornderweg 7 werd rond 1800 eigendom van Martinus Martinusz. Langeveld (1763-1819). In diens nalatenschap uit 1824 werd de Witte Engel als zodanig benoemd en dit is de enige 'Witte Engel' die nog als boerderij in bedrijf is en tevens gemeentelijk monument is. Of 'De Witte Engel' aan de Hoornderweg 11 ouder is dan die aan 7, is niet bekend, maar in 1742 woonde Dirk Cornelisz. Dekker op deze plek. Na 1800 werd Dirk Jansz. Bakker (1802-1887) eigenaar van De Witte Engel aan nummer 11. Nadat Trijntje Flens-Koning de boerderij in 1886 kocht, werd deze 'De Witte Engel van Flens' genoemd. Na 1981 is dit gebouw niet meer als boerderij in gebruik geweest. Aan de Hoornderweg 10 staat de Grote Witte Engel, in 1925 gebouwd door Hendrik Hin als boerderij, maar tegenwoordig als zodanig niet meer in gebruik.
In 1964 werd het landschap om en nabij 'de Witte Engel' tijdelijk grondig veranderd nadat er olie in de grond was gevonden en er diverse olieboringen werden verricht.
