Van der Vis.
Een gereformeerde familie van zeelieden in Oosterend.
Op 15 aug 1693 ondertrouwde in Amsterdam Meeuwis Willemsz van der Vis, 'binnenlants-vaerder', oud 26 jaar, afkomstig uit Lamuijen (Leimuiden) met Trijntje Hendriks, 25 jaar, van Texel. Hun zoons Dirk en Willem huwden in 1722 als Dirk Meesz en Willem Meesz van Leewen in Den Burg. Misschien duidde van Leewen op de herkomst van de familie uit Leimuiden. Hun afstammelingen heetten van der Vis. Zij trokken naar Oosterend en werden bijna allemaal vissers. Omstreeks 1800 splitste de familie zich in twee takken. De afstammelingen van Pieter Willemsz van der Vis en Tetje Simons Vlaming; deze tak wordt gekenmerkt door de voornaam Biem. Het nageslacht van Pieter's broer Jan vormt de tweede tak.
