Proces verbaal J vd Water Brand bij A Buis
Op heden den 24 Sept 1889 enz mij begeven op onderzoek naar en plaats gehad hebbende brand aan den Burg op Texel ten huize van Anthonie Buis op maandag 23 Sept JL.
Gehoord Antonie Buis oud 38 jaren van beroep slager wonende in de Nieuwstraat 307 verklaard mij dat hij den avond van 23 Sept JL met een klein petroleumlampje heeft staan werken in die schuur staande naast zijn woning en wel omstreeks 9 uren. Dat hij toen is gegaan in zijn woonhuis, en toen niets heeft bespeurd, toen hij met zijne huisvrouw omstreeks 10 ure in zijn woning zat te eten, werd hem van buiten toegeroepen dat het in zijn schuurtje rookte, hij is toen terstond gaan kijken en toen hij de deur opende stond het geheele schuurtje in de brand, hij heeft toen getracht met een paar emmers water dit noch te blusschen, doch dit is hem niet mogen gelukken, omstreeks 10 ¼ ure arriveerde de brandspuit ter plaatse die spoedig water gaf, doch niet kon beletten dat het geheele schuurtje waarin een wagen hooi geborgen was verbrandde.
Deze schuur was in de Tielsche brandwaarborgmaatschappij verzekerd voor 200.- Hoe de brand is veroorzaakt is nog onbekend, vermoedelijk heeft A Buis een pijp gerookt en meschien daaruit een vonk gevallen welk hij niet heeft gemerkt en later daardoor de brand is ontstaan, zoodat ik niet geloof dat hier aan kwaadwilligheid kan gedacht worden.
