Notes about Johann Heinrich Kreiger

Hij is volgens de gemeente Zijpe geboren in het voormalige Graafschap Mark te Pruisen, Duitsland (nabij Kirchharde, een voorstad ten zuidwesten van Dortmund). Vrijwel zeker is deze Johann Heinrich Kreiger dezelfde persoon als Hendrik Kreijger. Kennelijk heeft hij in de gemeente Zijpe zijn doopdatum als geboortedatum opgegeven.
De overlevering vertelt dat deze Heinrich of Hendrik kort na 1800 lopend met een grote groep mensen naar de kop van Noord-Holland is getrokken om werk te zoeken, hetgeen hij als smid heeft gevonden. Ook een deel van zijn kinderen en kleinkinderen waren smid in of in de buurt van de gemeente Zijpe.
Hij tekent meestal als Kreiger.
Hij staat vermeld in een transportakte (voor Schout en Schepenen) van de koop van de smederij in Oudesluis.
De akte dateert van 28 april 1809. Hendrik woont dan in Burgerbrug; dat is in het zuiden van de polder Zijpe. Oudesluis is in het noordelijkste puntje van Zijpe. In die akte wordt hij al aangeduid als Hendrik Krijger. Hij was dus waarschijnlijk al enige tijd in Burgerbrug.
