De Heer heeft hem gelouterd in een langdurige ziekte met veel geduld verdragen. God en de dood had hij altijd voor ogen; de dood heeft hem dan ook niet verrast: al lang verlangde hij er naar zoals de trouwe dienaar wacht op de komst van de Meester: O.L. Heer komt u mij toch halen! Dierbare vrouw, ik dank U voor al Uw goede zorg voor mij en voor het geduld waarmede ge mij op mijn ziekbed terzijde hebt gestaan. Blijf nu goed voor mij bidden. Ik zal voor U bij O.L. Heer ten beste spreken, opdat wij eens, elkander tesamen met onze dierbaren zullen weerzien. H.
