Hij komt niet voor in het ng doopboek Den Burg; dus geboren < 1700.
Het ng trouwboek Den Burg noemt hem Dirk Jansz Kok. Hij heette Dirk Dirksz Kok volgens oudnot. 4891 (1755).
Hij is afkomstig van Oudeschild.

Hij woonde met zijn gezin vanaf 1738 in de Weverstraat in Den Burg en hij was schipper op Alkmaar.
In 1755 was het niet best gesteld met zijn financiële situatie. Er werd beslag gelegd op de gage die hij had verdiend op het schip van kapitein Hendrik Sluijs. Bovendien deed hij beroep op een som geld nagelaten door ene Neele Moeij Nes voor de noodlijdenden in zijn familie. Aangezien hij tot 'zeer geringe staat en conditie' was vervallen en een huisvrouw en 8 levendige kinderen had, deed hij een beroep op dit geld als familielid (not. 4891, 1755).
