Hij was van het laatst van 1665 tot 15 October 1668 als genees- en heelmeester bij eene afdeeling ruiterij onder bevel van Johan Adolf von Grothaus zu Behr und Reseburg, Ridder van Sint Johan, in dienst van de Staten-Generaal der Vereenigde Nederlanden ; zijn ontslagbrief, op pergament en gezegeld, op eervolle wijze te Zwolle 15 October 1668 gegeven, is in het familie-archief aanwezig.

Hij vestigde zich daarna als geneesheer te Raalte. Hij was van 1687 tot aan zijn dood Diaken der Hervormde Gemeente te Raalte en sedert 1666 ceurnoot van den Richter aldaar en van het Schoutambt Heino. Hij bewoonde het "Ketwichshuys"; later bewoonden dit zijne dochters Catharina (n. 10) en Sophia (n. 11) met Geessi‰n Jansen "de Meit". In 1681 koopt hij het allodiaal landgoed "de Heemen" van Robert van Haeften en 3 Mei 1683 eenige landerijen, allen onder Raalte gelegen. (Voluntaire Zaken, Schoutambt Raalte, .Rjksarchief in Overijssel.) Bij acte gedateerd Campen 2 October 1691 zijn Berend van Ketwick en Lucas Voet door den Verwalter-Drost van Twente benoemd tot Voogden over de kinderen van de Welgeboren Vrouwe Weduwe Stoeverden tot den Berchorst.
