De oorspronkelijke boerderij is gebouwd in 1827. Hij was toen in het bezit van de familie (erven) Floris Aukema (woonde op De Ring 21, overleden 1829), wie van de Aukema-familie er toen echt woonden, weet ik nog niet.

Rond 1890 is het huis betrokken door Gerko Mellema (Leek, 1867) en Lukkien Boer (Smilde, 1869). Ze kregen vier kinderen, te weten
Jan (1897)
Liewe Jan (1898)
Wietse (1900)
Liekel (1905) Jan en Liekel bleven op deze boerderij wonen .

In 1939 verhuisden de Mellema's naar Nietap Santeeweg en kwamen Andries Torensma en Sieuwke Torensma-Jongeling met hun kind Jan vanuit Wetsens hier wonen. Andries Torensma kwam in mei 1945 in concentratiekamp Sandbostel (dependance van Neuengamme) om het leven.

Zoon Jan trouwde met Aaltien Vroom (dochter van Marius Gerardus Vroom en Annechiene Vroom Aukema) in 1945. Ze kregen zes kinderen:
Andries, Sjoline, Marius, Annie, Roelf-Jan, Evelien.
Roelf-Jan is nu nog de bewoner van de boerderij.

They got married on May 3, 1906 at Roden, he was 23 years old.
