Geert Veltrop op 2-3-1843 geboren in Slagharen, trouwde op 1-2-1867 te Emmen met Gesina Wesseling, eveneens in Slagharen geboren, op 13-11-1844.
Ze woonden eerst in Erica. Hier hebben ze ongeveer acht jaar nabij het Zwartemeer gewoond, daarna een korte tijd weer te Erica. Toen zijn ze verhuisd naar Nieuwe Schutting bij Roswinkel.
Geert Veltrop overleed daar op 6-4-1905, hij verongelukte toen hun huis afbrandde. Gesina Wesseling is oud geworden, zij stierf op 11-1-1937 in Emmer-Compascuum.
