    De twee broers hadden zich nog geen half jaar in Nederland gevestigd of Dirk kwam door verdrinking om het leven in de Delftse Schie.
    In een oud Kethels archief staat: Er wordt vermeldt, dat het lijk van Dirk Roling (22 jaar en ongehuwd) is gestorven op 17 september j.l. door een val in het water van de Delftse Schie. Het lichaam van Dirk is naar het huis van zijn broer gebracht in Ambacht Kethel (dus buiten het dorpscentrum)
