Auteur /mede-auteur van: Handleiding bij de bestudering van het palaeozoisch botanische materiaal van het geologisch en het botanisch museum te Utrecht. Sign. Gessnat D81-309 1925. De volksnamen van onze planten. Met een voorwoord van J. Lanjouw. Zutphen Thieme 1946, 92 pagina's. Sign. SB-DP1:293A37.Sys 1173.111.7. Handgeschreven kopie door H. Uittien, in de bibliotheek van het instituut voor Systematische Plantkunde van de R.U. Utrecht.
Eervol ontslag in 1933 als leraar aan de Middelbare Landbouwschool te Deventer wegens opheffing van deze betrekking.
1939 23 sept De Tijd, Onderwijs: "Te rekenen van 1 September 1939 is benoemd tot leraar aan de middelbare koloniale landbouwschool te Deventer, dr. H. Uittien"
In 1941, kennelijk weer aangenomen op de Koloniale Landbouwschool, maar na een rede geschorst wegens zijn felle houding tegen de bezetter. Hij was geen lid van een politieke partij maar werkte wel voor het illegale blad Trouw. Hij schrijft artikelen en zorgt voor verspreiding. Wegens dat werk wordt hij op 30 januari 1944 in Deventer gepakt en komt via Kampen, Arnhem en Haaren in Kamp Vught terecht waar hij werkt in de vliegtuigsloperij en aldaar op 10 auguatus 1944 wordt gefusilleerd.
Kamp Vught: het enige SS-concentratiekamp in Nederland en heette "Konzentrationslager Herzogenbusch". Er hebben 30.000 gevangenen gezeten.
