    Mr. James E. Swieringa, age 69, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was born February 22, 1939 in Muskegon to Barney and Hannah (Vanderford) Swieringa and had been a life resident. Mr. Swieringa was a U.S. Army Veteran and an active member of Bethel Baptist Church of Muskegon. He worked for Knoll Group for 30 years before retiring in 1999. For several years, he operated with his wife and father-in-law, Brondyke's Blueberries. In his spare time, Jim loved to hunt and fish. On November 18, 1960 he married the former Phyllis Brondyke in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, Kim (Craig) Bush, Jacki (Dean) Johnson both of Fruitport; 4 grandchildren, Karen (Shane) Boon of Harperwoods, MI, Bryon Bush, Philip and Molly Johnson all of Fruitport; sister, Betty (Donald) Ross of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Melvina Swieringa of Fruitport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Nancy Brondyke of Spring Lake, Gary and Donna Burns of Norton Shores; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Swieringa; and mother and father-in-law, Eleanor and Philip Brondyke. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Friday at the Bethel Baptist Church (1066 E. Byron Rd., Norton Shores) with Rev. Douglas VanderMolen and Rev. Jim Swieringa officiating. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 3-5 & 7-9 PM today at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey (231) 798-1100 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Harbor Hospice or the Bethel Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
