Men gaat ervan uit dat Hendrik Feddes Kies gehuwd met IJktje Pieters van der Velde dezelfde persoon is als Hendrik Feddes Kies gehuwd met Ikke Pieters Mekkers. Wat doet aannemen dat hier echter dezelfde persoon betreft is het feit dat de geboorten van de kinderen qua datum in dezelfde periode vallen en in dezelfde plaatsen. Bovendien komt het niet logisch voor dat twee personen met dezelfde naam op vrijwel hetzelfde moment worden geboren en een vrouw huwen die vrijwel dezelfde voornamen hebben. Een andere mogelijkheid is dat Hendrik twee maal gehuwd is. Bij de kinderen Fedde Kies en Jantje Hendriks wordt de moeder IJktje Pieters van der Velde genoemd. Jantje wordt als laatste geboren in 1835. Een tweede huwelijk zou dan direkt daarna hebben moeten plaatsvinden. De twee kinderen waarbij als moeder, Ikke Pieters Mekkers wordt genoemd, Aukje en Hendrik worden namelijk geboren in respectievelijk 1837 en 1838.
