Hij vertrekt naar Illinois, USA, op 3 Maart 1892 met zijn gezin naar de familie Wellen-Mars.Deze zijn in 1868 naar de USA vertrokken en zijn familie van zijn vrouw. Jans komt op 10 april 1892 aan in de USA.
Ze gaan in Atkinson Illinois wonen en vertrekken naar Seneca in 1898.
Hij keert in 1947 weer terug naar Zwartemeer, om zijn zusters te bezoeken.
Ook bezoekt Jans Rome, dit was altijd een grote wens van hem.
Jans was ook lid van de Bee Keepers Assiocation in 1913.
Jans was een behoorlijke vrek en zat op zijn centen. Bij de krach van 1929 verloor hij al zijn geld. Daarna had hij geen vertrouwen meer in de bank en bewaarde al zijn geld in potten en pannen thuis. Ook voor zijn kinderen was hij hard, als ze het huis uitwaren dan moesten ze zichzelf redden. Oma was de "engel"die haar kinderen nog een wat toe stopte. Vooral de honing die grandpa Einhaus maakte verkocht Marie nog wel eens stiekem. Ze kon dan de extra centjes geven aan diegene die het nodig had.

Op 16 november 1947 hebben 3 gewapende overvallers John, dan 80 jaar en zoon Henry, 45 jaar, overvallen in hun eigen huis. De gewapende overvallers hebben 120 dollar buitgemaakt
