Notes about Ernestus van BEVEREN

BEVEREN (Mr. Ernest van), heer van West-IJselmonde, gedoopt te Dordrecht 20 Februari 1669, gestorven aldaar 3 Augustus 1722, zoon van Cornelis van Beveren en Adriana van Wouw. Hij was schepen van Dordrecht in 1689-91 en 1698, lid van den Oudraad, lid der Rekenkamer van Holland 1692-94, burgemeester van Dordrecht in 1703-04. Hij was de laatste mannelijke afstammeling van den te Dordrecht gevestigden tak der familie van Beveren. Zijn portret is geschilderd door Aart de Gelder 1685, thans in het bezit van M.J.G. baron van Hardenbroek van 's Heeraertsberg en Bergambacht te 's Gravenhage. Een reproductie daarvan komt voor in Onze Kunst, Portrettennummer, gewijd aan de Tentoonstelling van oude Portretten, Haagsche kunstkring (1903).
