Het blijkt er om te gaan dat "hij naar aanleiding van het begiftigen met de zilveren ster van eenige Inlandsche hoofden in de afdeeling Galoeh, aan het adres van den Ass. Resident dier afdeeling, toenmaals den Heer A. Pecqueur, in de Expres een insinueerend artikel heeft geschreven, waarin dezen bestuursambtenaar feiten worden ten laste gelegd, welke hem, indien ze bestonden, zouden blootstellen aan den haat of de verachting der ingezetenen, in elk geval smadend voor hem zijn."
Bataviaasch nieuwsblad 15-6-1914: Op Dinsdag, 23-6-1914 zal voor den Raad van Justitie alhier terechtstaan: H C. R. Gonggrijp van der Sanden, geb. te Depok, oud 62 jaren (sic!), zonder beroep, wonende te Manondjaja, terzake: Dat hij met het oogmerk den assistent-Resident te beleedigen en in zijn eer en goeden naam aan te tasten heeft geschreven en aan den druk openbaar heeft doen maken een artikel met het opschrift "Toevallig", en een artikel in de Expres d.d. 7-9-1912. 4 getuigen zullen worden gehoord.
Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië 6-8-1914, Tegen het vonnis van den Raad van Justitie, alhier, waarbij H. C. R. Gongrijp van der Sanden, wegens drukpersdelict tot ƒ 200 boete werd veroordeeld, is door beklaagde revisie aangeteekend.
Bataviaasch nieuwsblad 19-8-1914, Het vonnis van den raad van justitie alhier, waarbij H. C. R. Gongrijp van der Sanden ter zake van laster jegens een openbaar ambtenaar door middel van een verspreid drukwerk tot ƒ 200 boete werd veroordeeld, is in revisie door het Hof bekrachtigd.
