    Kwestie rond een testament.
    Op 24 januari 1940 overleed Cornelia de Groot, de zuster van Henricus Hermanus. Rond de uitvoering van haar testament ontstond een kwestie tussen hem en het R.K. Armbestuur van Wateringen. Het testament van Cornelia ken ik niet, maar ik begrijp uit de correspondentie die ik in mijn bezit heb, dat het gaat om het volgende: 3000 Gulden heeft zij vermaakt aan het Armbestuur, waarvan, volgens haar broer, 1000 gulden bestemd is voor brood, en volgens oud gebruik geleverd wordt door de firma De Groot. Maar het Armbestuur is van mening, dat het besteed kan worden aan verstrekking van levensmiddelen. De bisschop van Haarlem wordt er zelfs bij betrokken.
    Hieronder transcriptie van twee kladjes aan de bisschop, waarin uitgebreid wordt uitgelegd hoe de familie in het verleden is omgegaan met giften aan de armen.
    Monseigneur, Mijn zuster is 24 jan. 1940 overleden en heeft aan het RK Armbestuur vermaakt 3000 gulden waarvan 1000 gulden de opbrengst besteed moet worden tot een jaarlijkse uitreiking van brood aan de armen. Nu heeft het Armbestuur besloten om het van 1 Maart 1941 per week 1 gulden brood te geven aan een gezin. Dit is nimmer de bedoeling geweest van de erflaatster om rede vele jaren voor 1900 door haar en mijn ouders op 25 januari brood werd bedeeld aan de algemeene armen. Nadien is er door mijn broer Zaliger vele jaren bonnen gegeven die mijn zuster uitdeelde voor brood, vleesch, steenkolen en verdere levensmiddelen tot 23 Aug. 1934. maakte 5000 gulden Toen heb ik 5000 gulden aan de RK Armbestuur afgedragen met het verzoek om als er brood bedeeld werd ik dat zou leveren, wat mij werd toegestaan. Dit is eenmaal gedaan, daarna zegde het Armbestuur wij zullen levensmiddelen delen en geen brood, doch dit jaar heb ik daar niets van kunnen gewaar worden. Mijn zuster heeft speciaal de bedoeling gehad dat er voor 1000 gulden brood zou worden bedeeld uit de zaak van haar ouders welk 98 jaar onder de firma naam d Groot bestaat. De meening van het Armbestuur is dat zij er andere bakkers mede tekort doen, doch dat blijft momenteel hetzelfde of het aan een of aan al de armen…..

Mijn Vader Zaliger heeft jarenlang op 25 Januari Wittebrood uitgedeeld aan de algemeene Armen tot1900. Daarna is er door mijn broeder Frans Zaliger alle jaren brood,vleesch en levensmiddelen uitgedeeld, steenkolen waarvoor mijn zuster bonnen uitdeelde. Mijn broerZaliger vermaakte 5000 gulden aan de RK Armen van Wateringen voor levensmiddelen. Toen ik dit bedrag aan het Armbestuur overhandigde vroeg ik om het brood te blijven leveren wat zij mij direkt toezegde. Het eerste jaar na zijn overlijden is er door het Armbestuur ook brood gedeeld wat ik heb geleverd. Daarna heeft het Armbestuur geen brood meer gedeeld en zeide tegen mij dat er stond levensmiddelen en dat ze konden deelen wat ze wilde. Daar was mijn zuster niet over eens en zeide dat als ik bij mijn overlijden wat aan de armen overmaak moet het brood zijn want het is allemaal uit de bakkerij van mijn vader gekomen en Vader Zaliger is al mede begonnen. Maar nu verkiest het Armbestuur geen brood uit te deelen en zelfs hoor je deze winter niets meer van mijn broer zaliger de bedeeling van levensmiddelen en zegt het brood dat mijn zuster heeft vermaakt aan een gezin gedeeld wordt het heele jaar door. Daar zijn nu maart 1941 mee begonnen. De notaris heeft het Armbestuur geschreven dat het de bedoeling van de erflaatster niet geweest is. Daar heeft de notaris geen antwoord op gekregen. De Z. Eerw. Heer Pastoor heeft mij mede gedeeld, dat de overige bakkers er mede benadeeld worden. Dit is ook als het aan een gezin word gegeven hetzelfde of nog meer…….
