Notes about Frans ZWANG

ST. GEORGE, UT - Frans Zwang Jr., 76, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 20th, 2002 after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 2nd, 1925 in Deflt, Holland the Netherlands. He was the only child of Gertruida Borsje and Frans Zwang Sr. He married Elfriede Volder, Nov. 18th 1949 in Djakarta, Indonesia while stationed there in the Dutch Army. After their return to Holland they joined the LDS Church and immigrated to the U.S. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on Oct. 15, 1960. After Elfriede's death, Frans married another angel, Shirley Price Dearth in the Jordan River Temple on June 17th 1995 and they moved to St. George shortly thereafter.

Frans is survived by his wife, Shirley Price Dearth Zwang; his children: Denis (Luana) Zwang and Pamela Zwang - Tobey both of New Harmony, Ut. Step-children: Deena Ross of St. George; and Randy (Linda) Dearth of Vernal, Utah; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded by his wife Elfriede, daughter Celestial and granddaughter Jennifer.

Frans was a talented Graphic Arts Specialist and worked for UDOT (Utah Dept of Transportation) in Salt Lake City, until his retirement.

Frans loved temple service. He served in three LDS Temples for the past 10 years and enjoyed being supervisors with his wife, Shirley. His last trip out of the house was his final journey to the Temple. He was extremely weak, but determined to be in the House of the Lord.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 23rd, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 p.m., and Friday, 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Valley View Cemetery in [West Valley] City on Saturday, 10:00 a.m.
