Notes about Jurjen Lieuwes "Pieter" de Jager

zeeman, stuurman op schip dat hij in een zware storm tussen 3 en 12 januari 1789 op het strand moest zetten in de buurt van Plymouth, waarbij hem handen en voeten bevroren.
Op 25 febr.werden hem in het hospitaal van Plymouth enige vingers en tenen afgezet.
Op 10 april vertrok hij per schip naar Zierikzee, kwam 20 april aan, en werd naar het gasthuis gebracht, waar men hem alle vingers, een lid of een half lid, afzette. Hier is hij voor rekening van zijn reders en onder verzorging van zijn dochter Johanna verpleegd tot 26-3-1791. Vervolgens ging hij naar vrouw en kinderen in Maassluis.
Door de toenmalige regeringwerd hem toen permissie gegeven tot het houden ener school voor RK kinderen.
