Adriaan trouwde op 3 september 1914 in Den Haag met zijn nicht Wilhelmina (Mieneke, Mientje) Alfredina Maria Burgers. Zij was een dochter van Jan Batist Burgers (1853-ca 1922). Zij overleed in Luik op 31-10-1939.

De huwelijkse bijlagen over de jaren 1898 september - 1944 zijn in de oorlog
verloren gegaan.

De N.V. Burgers & Co's Bank, gevestigd op de Kneuterdijk 16 (later op nr. 11) te Den Haag, was een Nederlandse bank opgericht 20-11-1922 waarvan Adrianus J.B. Burgers en zijn broer Eduardus C.M.N. Burgers beiden directeur waren. De bank hield zich bezig met het verstrekken van hypothecaire leningen aan kerkelijke instellingen m.n. in Duitsland en Hongarije, gefinancierd door het uitschrijven van obligaties waartoe het N.V. Trustkantoor voor Belegging en Administratie was opgericht. In de jaren 30 van de vorige eeuw kwam de bank in opspraak door de zgn. Sodalitas-affaire. Sodalitas, voluit Sodalitas-Medicorum Oblatorus Ordinis Sancti Benedicti (Gezelschap van doctoiren-oblaten van de orde van den H. Benedictus), was een zijdelings bij de Katkolieke kerk betrokken organisatie van het Elisabeth Salzbad te Boedapest, waarvoor Burgers Bank een obligatielening verstrekte van 850.000 gulden. Deze zgn. "Medische Missie" van het Elisabeth Salzbad werd aangegaan met Pauselijke machtiging en goedkeuring door den Vorst-Aartsbisschoppelijken stoel van Esztergom en volgens de Burgers Bank waren de inkomsten van de "Medische Missie" ruimschoots voldoende om stipte rentebetaling en aflossing van de lening te waarborgen (de Pauselijke machtiging werd kort daarna overigens ontkend door de Pauselijke Internuntiatuur in Den Haag).
Het Salzbad werd slecht financieel beheerd, waardoor de aandeelhouders in opstand kwamen. De directeur van het Trustkantoor Isidoor Leenes, tevens directeur van Burgers Bank, staat in 1932 terecht voor verduistering van obligaties. De als getuige bij de rechtszaak tegen Is. Leenes opgeroepen Adrianus J.B. Burgers verklaarde, hoewel commissaris te zijn geweest van het Trustkantoor, niet geheel op de hoogte geweest te zijn met de zaken, die heel moeilijk waren. Een procedure die Burgers & Co's Bank had in de Soliditas-affaire kostte veel geld en volgens hem wist Isidoor Leenes aan geld te komen door de obligaties te belenen. In hoger beroep wordt Leenes veroordeeld tot anderhalf jaar gevangenisstraf en de N.V. Burgers & Co's Bank blijft uiteindelijk zitten met een schuld van 107.000 gulden aan het Trustkantoor. De bank wordt op 8 december 1932 failliet verklaard.
Zijn broer Eduardus overlijdt op 5 juli 1931 op 51-jarige leeftijd en maakt de teloorgang van de bank niet meer mee.
