'''welke aldaar gebaard heeft: Vrou Charlotte-Brabantina de Nassau''', die 1598. Troude Claude, Heere van Tremoille, Hertoge van Thouars, Prince van Talamont, &c. ) Schepen 1574. 1575. Veertig 1575. in Dordrecht: Troude Maria van Telsbout, Jakobs dochter, hy sterft 1577. zy 1604.


WESEL (Jan van), geb. te Dordrecht, overl. aldaar 1577, was de zoon van Thomas van Wesel en Christina van Slingelandt. Hij was zeepzieder en tevens munter, en woonde in het groote en prachtig ingerichte huis de Vijgeboom op den westhoek der Kleine Spuistraat, thans afgebroken. In zijn woning logeerde in 1580 de derde gemalin van Prins Willem I, Prinses Charlotte de Bourbon, die er beviel van een dochter Charlotte Brabantine (dl. I, kol. 593). Dit staat te lezen bij Balen, maar noch in de stadsrekening van 1580, noch in andere stadsregisters komt iets omtrent die bevalling voor. Uit 's Prinsen brieven (Groen, Gachard) blijkt eer, dat deze prinses te Antwerpen geboren werd.
Jan van Wesel was veertigraad en schepen van Dordrecht in 1574 en 75, en was gehuwd met Maria van Telshout Jacobsdr, die hem 6 kinderen schonk, o.a. Barbara (zie dl. IV, kol. 1450).
