Notes about Louise de COLIGNY

NOTE:Na de dood van Charlotte van Bourbon, 5 mei 1582, trouwt Willem van Oranje op 12 april 1583 in Antwerpen, voor de vierde keer, nu met Louise de Coligny, mede in de hoop de Fransen voor zich te winnen. Uit het huwelijk wordt op 28 februari 1584 Frederik Hendrik geboren.
Louise werd geboren op 28 september 1555 in Chatillon-sur-Loing en overleden op 9 november 1620 in Fontainebleau op 65 jarige leeftijd. Louise was de weduwe van Charles de Téligny.
De vader van Louise de Coligny, Gaspard, Heer van Châtillon, wordt gezien als de grondlegger van de protestantse kerk in Frankrijk. Hij stond bekend als een zeer nobel en verdraagzaam persoon. Enkele dagen na het eerste huwelijk van zijn dochter werd hij in de zogeheten Bartholomeus-nacht van 23 op 24 augustus 1572 samen met een groot aantal andere Franse protestanten in zijn woning in Parijs vermoord. Na deze opstand tegen het protestantisme zijn veel protestanten (onder wie Louise de Coligny) naar Nederland gevlucht; een land waar vrijheid van godsdienst heerste. Deze Franse protestanten noemden zich Hugenoten. Louise de Coligny heeft in Nederland de Waalse kerk gesticht, eerst in Delft en later ook aan het Noordeinde in Den Haag.
Men zegt dat Louise de Coligny haar man vlak voor de aanslag nog heeft gewaarschuwd voor Balthasar Gerards. Zij vond hem maar een onguur type.
