    Gerrit Hendrik Heinen is geboren aan de Varsseveldsestaat, in 1851. Hij was 25 jaar toen tapper en brouwer Gerhard Prins stierf in 1876. Vier jaar later viel het doek voor de brouwerij. Als ook de laatste brouwer van de familie overlijdt is Heinen 29 jaar. Het café en de brouwerij had voor de Aaltenaren iets bijzonders, iets mystieks. Als bezoeker van het café zal Heinen de verhalen over Westerveld gehoord hebben en ook voor hem was De Halve Maan iets speciaals. Er straalde iets glorieus vanaf, iets de moeite waard om voor de toekomst te bewaren.
    Negentien jaar oud gaat Gerrit Hendrik Heinen naar Warnsveld, in 1871 komt hij na één jaar weer terug in Aalten. In 1877 vertrekt hij naar Rotterdam om het vak van huis –en decoratie schilder te leren. Twee jaar later komt hij in Amsterdam terecht. Daar begint hij een schildersbedrijf en heeft na enige jaren meer dan honderd gezellen in dienst. Hij maakt het zogezegd en investeert in onroerend goed. Café restaurant hotel Schiller aan het Rembrantplein is de ontmoetingsplaats voor de huizenhandel en Heinen is daar dan ook vaak te vinden.
    Heinen blijft ook Aalten vaak bezoeken en hierbij hoort natuurlijk het bezoek aan café Prins. De grote zakenman geniet van alles wat mooi is. Heinen is een levensgenieter, stedeling en natuurlijk kunstenaar in het decoratieve. Hij droomt ervan om van Aalten een kunstplaats te maken en stelt enkele werken beschikbaar aan de Oudheidkamer. De drommen mensen blijven echter uit. Heinen huwt de Zwitserse Marie Streuli en gaat uiteindelijk rentenieren aan het Lago di Como in Zwitserland. September 1930 sterft de schilder in Aalten.
