Anton Gerard Cornelis was tot hij op 12-01-1917 in dienst kwam bij de spoorwegen van beroep kantoorbediende in een kruidenierszaak.
Hij was voor zijn militaire dienst vrijgeloot.
Hij begon in de standplaats Utrecht, waar zijn eerste bezoldiging fl. 1,45 was.
14-11-1918 werd hij opgeroepen voor de vrijwillige landtroepen t/m 19-11-1918.
